Gluten Free, Nut Free, No added Sugar, Dairy Free
his simple Hemp Seed Butter is a wonderful nut-free alternative and roasting the hemp seeds first brings out their natural nutty flavour. It can be used in recipes as a direct replacement for any of the nut butters. It is also a great nutritious addition to smoothies, porridge and to top your granola with fruit and hemp seed butter, so much tastier than protein powders! I also love it as a protein rich afternoon snack with fresh apple and cinnamon!
Ingredients
1 cup Red Tractor Hemp Seeds
Additional Flavouring Options
2 tsp Red Tractor Cacao or
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon or
1 tbsp Coconut sugar
Preheat a fan forced oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Sprinkle the Red Tractor Hemp Seeds over the baking tray in a thin layer. Cook in the over for 5 minutes, mix take out and mix the hemp seeds shake back into a thin layer and cook for another 5 -7 minutes or until the seeds are a golden colour.
Allow the hemp seeds to cool slightly before transferring to the blender / nutribullet / food processor. Whiz on high for 2-3 minutes or until the seeds have turned into a butter type consistency. First they will become a fine flour, then a dough and then the butter!
Transfer to a clean jar and keep in the fridge for up to a month (it if lasts that long!)
I like to make mine plain and then add flavours when I need them. This is a great nut-free butter and can be used in recipes as a direct replacement for nut butters.
